so first of all i want to talk about how there are multiple genres of fantasies and this will be very subjective thread of what I enjoyed myself. So if you want to reply then kind of just add your own comments on how youfeel and whether you agree, but not like just yesman bullshit. So I really like crazy fantasy or weird fantasy, that feel surreal. because this is OG fantasy to me.

OG Fantasy would be a imitation of a fairy tale, or contemporary fantasy. when you look at a guy or girl entering the world that has supernatural explanation, that on itself is a form of contemporary urban fantasy that I enjoy
I really like stories like fate or paranormal ones kind of where the character finds something mysterious, and i am adult so i know ghosts dont exist but i cant say for sure that ghosts dont to me it might be very possible that therei s real life mystery and that is also where its conencted to folklore, so to speak to this day folklore exists and develops. contemporary lore explores artificial attempt to make that feeling of mystery you get from real urban folklore.
So, as for high fantasy or tolkien type fantasy, I fucking hate it. I can't fucknig stand when you give me an entire world, call me arrogant but no way this one hguy is so smart that he can create it. From my knowledge I got and Im still like young as hell, i'd tell you as young dude there is so much I sjmply don't know. that's why when you look at hiraki who made jojo and stuff tis impressive you know how artist reads and reads stuff to add in his story. cause he like shares his story with other things he likes and that makes it rich. but tolkien is the opposite he makes story for himself in a way that also insults history and cultures. like adding things that are based on dead cultures, adding like languages and a lot of is very annoying because it feels like he is jsut stealing shit. So like its one thing to name like a stand over your beloved pop culture song, another when you have a guy renaming old words that had entirely different meaning over something else. like why use etruscan language or sumerian language or whatever and corrupt it like that for your story? that is just minor issue, the bigger issue is playing god trying so hard to make this world that at the end of the day ccannot be created by one guy. right? so it will always feel fake. of course youre gonna argue well writers for warhammer is not jsut one guy so it should be better. well it turned out it wasnt better but whatever. the point is that high fantasy is high management and very huge amount of holes in the story and its world building because writers think too highly of their intelligence and ability to create stories like that. again, stories should be closer to vanilla folklore to appeal to folk… so to speak, hahaha. And even though LOTR is famous i really feel it is like breating its air out, like it is out of tricks so to speak, thats how boring it is. this form of fantasy realizes a lot on roleplay and some form of self fulfillment, because thats why i dont htink dnd is bad but like nerd culture like you get bullied well cough cough… you get my point its like nerds can escape harsh truths. anyway it relies to heavily on this kind of self fulfillment and even though it can be fun it is also miserable in some cases. i mean a lot of these high fantasies authors dont understand breaks, its popular genre because a lot of retards think they have too much brain. and there is no brakes, right? until demon king or sauron imitation dies you can continue story forever, adding more and more characaters that will appear once. and like thats how you als oshit anime where you have all these characters in openning but all of them are fucknig useless like why like why do you need so many its not about narrative narrative is often about human feelings but its completely about how much of the world that no one cares about can i create and how many people will have to anime my shitty ranobe that doesnt deserve to be animated?
That was harsh but as you can see contemporary fantasy has elements of human emotion, and high fantasy ignores human feelings for stupid ass world building that is never ever ever finished/ ( I look at you warhammer fantasy )_ Sometimes stupid world building kills even non high fantasy genres like Half Life stupid fucking game they never shut the fuck u dialogues are infinite and tis just stupid fps game to kill zombies in but it thinks its some kind of hollywood blockbuster and honestly i feel terry davis would hate half life just like me. its a very overrated trash game that people like too much. and its fault is obsession with world building out of thin air. its really not original or different from cringy hollywood films like independence day yet they think they are so fucking amazing. i am gonna stop beating valve and talk about my favorite genre of fantasy - surreal fantasy.
I fucking love surreal fantasy, now i mentioned contemporary fantasy where there is just a little bit of insanity or insanity is balanced by normal person, however surreal fanatsy can be also really cool. the big difference is that surreal fantasy does not need narration or some kind of end point for the normal pederstrian character who serves as narration point. You can ever say SHerlock Holmes is a fantasy narration as Holmes feels like "Surreal" character. Anyway, absurd fantasy can have contemporary elements like alice in the wonderland or narnia. but narnia is interesting cause as you know its christian allegory, and in fact the second half of the movie feels very … like i dont remember it since kid. i had to watch video on narnia to rmeember the second half of the movie. I think ruining stakes and the development of Edward for sake of christian allegory was what kind of made me forget it because if i wanted id read about cruxification from gospels not from narnia. so like rereading the bible feels weird. plus i genuinely wondered what would happen with edward or edmund algo. Anyway, yume nikki or yume 2kki more like is surreal fantasy. I guess that … what they call it the one you know with the dmeon whos grey? its getting animation soon. that is also surreal fantasy. there are not many examples but its luccid it doesnt have t omake sense it is very open to artistic expression. I like that storym very well myself.
